Mistake 4: Using the excuse that "the die off and detox reactions on GAPS are way too much."
SPOILER ALERT:
It's not necessary to experience extreme die off or detox reactions to have progress on GAPS.
What do I mean?
Whenever someone introduces a probiotic food or a very nutrient dense food and experiences die off, it's good! It means you've found a strain or nutrient that your body is weak in.
However, if you're miserable and unable to function, you're doing too much, too fast. That's not the best way.
The key is knowing how much of the new food to start with, how much to increase it, and when to increase it, in order to keep die off and detox very mild and gentle.
Some die off is good, because die off means progress. The pathogens are dying, which is what needs to happen.
The important thing is to keep everything at a level to where we are moving forward, but are still comfortable and able to function.
